Accretion is a hand-built sculptural form made in terracotta clay, built slowly through coiling and careful drying. The surface grows outward in clustered protrusions, each one formed by hand and allowed to settle into place over time. The process is deliberate and physical, with the form developing gradually rather than being imposed all at once.
The piece has a strong sense of weight and presence, but also invites closer viewing. As light moves across the surface, the form shifts, revealing depth, shadow, and subtle variation in tone. From different angles it reads alternately as geological, organic, or architectural, never fixed to a single interpretation.
Accretion is intended as a sculptural object for display, suited to a plinth, shelf, or table where it can be viewed from multiple sides. It sits comfortably on its own or as part of a group, rewarding time spent looking.
