Hand-built in black clay, this orb grew from a coiled core. I cut and opened small vents, then pushed and coaxed the body outward to raise each rounded rise. Slow drying locked in the form without stress. A cool mineral frost was added at the end, catching the high points and settling in the hollows to reveal the grit of the clay.

The clustered vents at the crown and the weathered surface give it the feel of a sea-floor find, something formed by time and pressure rather than manufacture. It changes character with the light, shifting from urchin to mineral nodule, and holds the eye as a quiet, sculptural centrepiece.
