Request bespoke sculptural work inspired by geology and natural forms.

The Commissioning Process

John takes on a limited number of bespoke sculptural commissions each year. His work is primarily focused on abstract forms inspired by geology and the natural world, rather than functional tableware. Each piece is hand-built in his East Sussex studio, ensuring a unique exploration of texture and shadow that resonates with the client's space.

Typical sculptures range from small mantelpiece objects to larger statement pieces suitable for plinths. Due to the slow nature of hand-building and the multiple firing stages involved, timeframes for bespoke work usually range from 8 to 12 weeks. This allows for careful drying and atmospheric firing to achieve the desired surface quality.

Pricing for commissions is dependent on the complexity of the form, the quantity of material required, and any specific development work for custom glazes or finishes. John provides a clear estimate following an initial consultation and review of your project details.
