I’m genuinely chuffed. It’s one of those events I’ve watched for a while and thought, maybe one day, but I didn’t want to get ahead of myself. So getting the email and realising it was a yes was a proper moment. Equal parts excited and slightly nervous, in a good way.
If you don’t know it, Glynde Place is just outside Lewes, and the show sits right in the grounds. It’s a brilliant setting for ceramics, open-sided marquees, loads of natural light, and a really strong mix of makers. Meeting the other makers and those visiting is what I am looking forward to the most. The moments when someone stops, admires a piece, asks questions and hopefully the piece will leave them wanting to know more about the inspiration and to discuss what their thoughts are on it.
For me, it also feels like a bit of a marker. I’ve been working seriously with clay for nearly four years now. I’m still learning constantly, no one ever stops learning in art, but I have got enough behind me now to start stepping into bigger shows.
The work that I have made, and the pieces I am making that I’m taking will be in the same world as what I’m always drawn back to, sculptural forms, a lot of texture, surfaces that catch light and throw shadow. I’m making pieces that feel geological, weathered, built up, worn down, pushed and pulled. Some will be new wall pieces, some will be freestanding forms. I’m also trying a few things that are slightly different for me. Nothing wild, just small changes that keep the work moving, different glaze combinations, more contrast, a couple of pieces that lean a bit more into design and structure.
I’ll share updates as I go, new work as it comes out of the kiln, packing plans, stand details, all of that. If you’re thinking of going, it’s 22–24 May 2026, and it’s an easy trip from Lewes, Brighton, Eastbourne, and London.
I am considering vlogging my time at the event, the preparations and on the day.
And if you’re coming, please do say hello.
More soon.
